Cowley Login FAQs

Student Password

  • The SIS system generates new student passwords using the first four letters of the last name with the first letter being a CAP and then the last 4 digits of the SSN.
    • Example: Julie Smith SSN: 222-66-4321 will have a password of Smit4321

  • Students that have only 2 or 3 characters in the last name will have only 2 or 3 characters plus the 4 digits in the password.
    • Example: Julie Le SSN: 222-66-4321 will have a password of Le4321

  • Students who do not have a SSN in the system will have 0123 for the last 4 digits of the password.
    • Example: Julie Smith “SSN: not preset” will have a password of Smit0123

  • Note:  The password is the same for Office 365, TigerConnect and Blackboard. If a student changes their password, it will change in all 3 systems.
  • Note: Password requirements:
    • Minimum of 6 digits in length
  • There are a number of students that were created when this was not working, so they have a randomly generated password that could be anything.  They should have received an email to their personal email addresses containing their ID and password, but this was also not working for a while, and we will need to help them as we are contacted.
    • We will need the Student Name, ID number and last 4 digits of the SSN. Contact tech@cowley.edu
  • Students can change their password by logging into the www.cowley.edu Single Sign On link.
    • Click your name in the upper right of the screen.
    • Select My Account.
    • You will then be prompted to enter your password again and then directed to a page where the password can be changed.

Student Username

  • Note:  Faculty, Staff and Adjuncts are the only accounts that have firstname.lastname@cowley.edu for an email address and first name. last name for login name.
  • Student email addresses are loginname@cowley.edu.
  • Logging into the Single Sing On link on the www.cowley.edu webpage, will automatically log the user into Blackboard, TigerConnect and Office 365.
    • They will be required to answer security questions the first time they log in which will enable self-service password reset.
    • TigerConnect has a 15-minute automatic logout time for inactivity.  Users may have to re-enter their login information if they have been idle for 15 minutes or longer.
  • Note:  There may be times when the SSO login is down. Blackboard and TigerConnect can both be accessed directly if SSO is down but Office 365 cannot.
    • None of the systems can be reached if the actual network is down on campus.
  • Please keep in mind that the SIS takes a few hours to process a new student and create the accounts, so they can log in to all systems. Blackboard login usually does not work until the following day.
